I agree that the future of 3D depends on prestigious filmmakers like Wenders, Peter Jackson, Scorsese, Spielberg, etc... trying their hand at it.

But it also depends a lot on new filmmakers experimenting with its storytelling possibilities with small cheap rigs, like the short film crew I documented in this post:

Thank you for giving us this insight from one of the sharpest filmmakers of our times. Wenders implies it, but he is humble enough not to say out bluntly that the bump 3D really needs is prestigious people like him implementing the technology in their films. I haven’t been lucky enough to work on a set wit a 3D rig yet, but likely would enjoy more that moment if it is being used to serve a purpose as noble as this film. 
I cannot wait to see PINA.
