thanks for reminding me the work of this great artist. his images on the 80′s (paris, texas and down by law, mostly) had a profound effect on me and on my decision to become a cinematographer.

Lets not forget Robby’s contribution to the early development and usage of Kino Flo with the creator and at the time his gaffer Frieder Hochheim.

Great article. I had a chance to speak with Theo van de Sande a couple of weeks ago about Robby Muller. He has great admiration for his cinematography. If you have a chance, you should get in touch with him.

I’ve always loved Mr. Muller’s work and his ethos. While Sven Nykvist could show you the intimacy of the human face in his beautiful close-ups, Robby could show you a human being in a wide shot and it would feel just as intimate. Wonderful images.
I hope I get to see and experience more of his craftsmanship.
