Bay directs his cast while shooting on the launch pad gantry. "Every single piece of our equipment had to be accounted for while we were shooting on the gantry," the director stresses. "Because if we were to drop something as small as a paper clip and not be able to find it NASA would scrub their launch. That's how careful they are. And although they policed us, I think we'd impressed them with our professionalism, and that's why they opened up all the doors and allowed us up there."
