Scenes set within the film's twin space shuttles were photographed on an orbiter set built at Walt Disney Studios. "We designed them to be larger than the real thing," Bay detailss, "but they were still restrictive because we were up on a gimbal, shaking around." Bay notes that production designer Michael White planned the interiors specifically for 2.35:1. "Michael always used a widescreen frame when doing his drawings, lowering walls and elongating shapes to fit it more comfortably."
