While shooting at NASA, the production discovered a quiet competition between the Air Force and the Space Administration — and took advantage of it. Bay remarks, "After getting NASA's approval, we asked the Air Force, 'Could we maybe get a B-2 bomber? Or some SR-71 Blackbird spy planes?' This was stuff that has never been in movies before, and they were just parking them wherever we wanted them."
