Fred Koenekamp’s Patton and Richard Moore’s Winning to screen at UCLA


The UCLA Film and Television Archive is presenting a screening of Fred Koenekamp’s Patton on Friday, January 14, and Richard Moore’s Winning on Friday, January 21, in collaboration with the ASC and the 19th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards. Both screenings begin at 7:30 p.m., and Fred and Richard will attend their respective screening, and conduct a Q&A with the audience immediately afterwards.

Venue: James Bridges Theater, Melnitz Hall, UCLA (405 Hilgard Ave.)
Located at the northeast corner of the UCLA campus in Westwood, near the intersection of Sunset Blvd. and Hilgard Ave.

Admission: $7 general; $5 for ASC members, students, seniors and UCLA Alumni Association members with ID. Box office opens one hour before showtime for in-person ticket sales. Advance tickets: $8, purchase online at www.cinema.ucla.edu (discounted tickets NOT available online).

Parking: $7 in Lot 3, adjacent to the James Bridges Theater
Free off-campus parking is available on Loring Ave. (south of Sunset Blvd., east of Hilgard Ave. at Charing Cross Rd.) after 6 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Fred earned an Oscar nomination for Patton, and considers the movie the highlight of his illustrious career. He will receive the coveted ASC Lifetime Achievement Award on February 13 at the ASC Awards gala. This screening is in 70 mm.

Richard cites Winning, a 1969 film featuring Paul Newman as a racecar driver, among his personal favorites. He designed and built a remote control system that enabled him to use radio signals to operate a camera mounted on a racecar driven by Newman. He will receive the prestigious ASC Presidents Award 0n February 13 at the ASC Awards gala.
