Roy Wagner, ASC to Host Digital Cinematography Workshop in Denver on Dec. 17
On Dec. 17, award-winning cinematographer Roy Wagner, ASC will lead an exciting, one-day educational workshop in Denver for anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of visual storytelling at 24 frames per second.
This ASC is co-sponsoring the session – titled The Digital Age of Cinematography – in an effort to showcase how the core principles of visual storytelling, or the art of cinematography, are applied when using digital image capturing devices.
Wagner will cover the creative processes, situational ethics and essential manners, tools and techniques that will enhance your skills as a visual artist and filmmaker. He will also explore the qualities, benefits and capabilities of the many Digital Acquisition Tools that are used in production today by cinematographers worldwide.
“Project to project, the camera, crew, set and optics packages will change,” notes Wagner. “But the artistic and creative values and skills that the cinematographer has learned will be the constant that brings everything together to make stunning emotional images spring to life. Cinematography is not a technological position; it is an artistic position.”
The seminar is set for Dec. 17 and will run in seven parts from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at Film/Video Equipment Service Co., Inc. (800 So. Jason Street, Denver, CO 80223). Registration is $100 per person – which includes lunch and materials.
Wagner has won two Emmys and an ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography for a Miniseries. He has also been named one of the top 100 directors of photography in the world by Eastman Kodak and received the Producers Guild Association Vision Award. Some of Wagner’s credits include the Drug Wars: The Cocaine Cartel, CSI, Quantum Leap and Beauty and the Beast.
